ESCANABA -- The local Mothers Against Drunk Drivers has partnered with Escanaba teens on a holiday awareness program to encourage sober driving this holiday season.

Students in Gary Lark's S.A.D.D. (Students Against Drunk Drivers) Club tied red ribbons on the cars at the Escanaba High School parking lot.

It's called 'Tie One on for Safety,' and the campaign is intended to raise public awareness of the importance of not drinking and driving.

The members of the students against destructive decisions club said they hope the message stays with drivers all year-round.

"We just hope that they're aware of the dangers in the community and that they just know that they need to drive safely and just watch out and stick out for each other," said S.A.D.D. member, Katrina Torreano.  "It gives you a lot of pleasure.  It's nice knowing that you're helping your community and spreading awareness."

The red ribbon campaign runs from Thanksgiving until New Year's Day and is M.A.D.D.'s largest public awareness program.
