ST. PAUL (AP) -- The Minnesota State Patrol says a suspected drunken driver killed one man and injured another who had come to the aid of a driver whose car crashed on the interstate in St. Paul.
The patrol says the crash happened just before 11 p.m. Sunday when a pickup truck merging onto Interstate 94 struck a car, causing its driver to lose control of the vehicle and roll over. The patrol says the pickup driver and a witness attempted to help the driver of the car. That's when a minivan hit the car and the two men.
The pickup truck driver, a 21-year-old Sault Saint Marie man died at the scene.
The witness, a 37-year-old Minneapolis man, was critically injured.
KARE-TV says the driver of the car, a 22-year-old St. Paul woman, also suffered critical injuries.
