ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- 'Tis the season in Ishpeming Township where 300 third, fourth, and fifth grade students at Aspen Ridge Elementary School performed the holiday favorite, The Nutcracker.

Students performed songs to the tune of seven Tchaikovsky classics, and some students even sported speaking roles.  Music Director JoAnn Oliver looks forward to her students' Christmas performance each year, but she said there's something special about The Nutcracker.

"The Nutcracker is a classic, and it's an awesome opportunity for children to get to sing Tchaikovsky and get to know the story of The Nutcracker," said Oliver.

The event was so popular that it was too big for the school's auditorium.  Parents were invited to watch the performance in the school gym.
