MARQUETTE TOWNSHIP -- U.S. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin announced support for the Marquette Township Fire and Rescue Department on Thursday.

The department is receiving a $50,816 grant from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program.  The grants are used to help address special equipment, training, staffing, and other EMS-related needs.

"Our firefighters provide invaluable, courageous service to families in Marquette Township," said Senator Stabenow.  "They deserve the best training and equipment to perform their duties safely."

These grants will help ensure that Michiganians get the fire protection they need," added Senator Levin, "and that our firefighters get the support they deserve."

You can find out more by visiting FEMA's website to review the grant.
