MENOMINEE (AP) -- Authorities say five people have received federal prison sentences after pleading guilty to conspiracy to sell the prescription narcotic oxycodone in the Menominee area.
U.S. Attorney Donald Davis and the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team said Wednesday that an investigation into the illegal sale of oxycodone began one year ago.
Authorities say the drug ring sold about $300,000 worth of oxycodone from 2009 through early 2011. They say the ring got most of the drugs through prescriptions filled at pharmacies in Wisconsin, then sold them on the street in Michigan.
The suspects, four of them from Menominee, were sentenced to federal prison:
Justin Kevin Rivet, age 29 - 7 years, 3 months
Marie Christine Matthews, age 24 - 5 years, 10 months
Kenneth James Behrendt, age 34 - 4 years, 3 months
Michael John Dobbins, age 31 - 1 year, 3 months
And 22-year-old Sabrina Leigh Degaynor of Marinette, Wisconsin, one year in federal prison.
