ISHPEMING -- The Adopt a Family effort is wrapping up at the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.

Earlier this month, the GINCC adopted a family for Christmas through the Salvation Army.  The shopping is now complete with the help of the chamber and community.

On Wednesday, the gifts must be turned in to the Salvation Army in Ishpeming, so the Chamber of Commerce is wrapping them all. The gifts are turned in to the Salvation Army where they will be distributed to the families.

"Nothing is expected in return," said GINCC Executive Director Elizabeth Peterson.  "It's just something that we can do.  There is no thanks that is necessary.  We want to make sure they have a great Christmas, and that's thanks enough."

The Adopt a Family effort could not have been done without the help of so many generous members of the Chamber of Commerce and community.

The chamber plans to participate for a third time next year.
