MARQUETTE -- Students, family and community members enjoyed a performance of the nativity Friday morning at Father Marquette Elementary School in Marquette.

The 10-member cast is made up of the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten class. They've been working on it for several weeks. The play features several Christmas hymns and reenactments. Cast members said their favorite part was having the opportunity to recite lines, while the principal said it shows the kids the true importance and meaning behind Christmas.

"It's really important for the kids to act this out so they really know what the true meaning of Christmas is, what the season is and what we're preparing for," said Principal Jackie Wright.

This was the seventh annual show and the fourth and last performance of the week.
