MANISTIQUE -- A Friday morning fire leaves a family of four without a home in Manistique.

The fire happened around 9:00 a.m. on Friday at 924 Deer St. in Manistique.  The home belonged to a family of four that were able to safely leave the house through a side window, according to Manistique Public Safety.

Public safety believes the fire started in the kitchen, where the oven was possibly being used as a heating apparatus.

Below is a Google street-level image of what the house looked like before the fire.

The fire remains under investigation.
