ISHPEMING TOWNSHIP -- Students at Westwood High School have put a modern spin on a classic tragedy.

The student actors and crew members have been working on the play since the fall.

Hamlet sticks pretty close to the original, but with a few notable changes including a non-specific period setting.  And Hamlet's best friend, Oratio, is a woman instead of a man in this version.

They were originally introduced to Hamlet in their English Literature class.

Students were treated to a sneak preview Wednesday with the play premiering to the public next week at Westwood High School.
