MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Police Department along with the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET) raided a downtown Marquette store Wednesday evening.

Police obtained a search warrant to take a look inside Backroom Obsessions on South Front Street.

Marquette City Police and UPSET have been investigating the store for three months and believe that it's been selling controlled substances that have the same effect as illegal drugs.

"Our investigation involves possession, allegedly, of illegal contraband in the store, and that's what we're investigating at this time," said Marquette City Police Detective, Captain Gordon Warchock.

Police also have a warrant on a store in Houghton that is owned by the same person.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made.
