NEGAUNEE TOWNSHIP -- Residents around the Upper Peninsula were able to have a one-on-one conversation with somebody at the White House on Wednesday regarding the economy.
Facebook fans and other social media users participated in TV6's online chat with Jason Furman, Assistant to the President on Economic Policy.
The hour-long session included a variety of topics ranging from post office closures to utilizing natural resources.
Furman responded to a question about the forestry and mining industries, which are important to Upper Michigan.
"We should do everything we can to ensure that our exports are growing and contributing to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and the American economy more broadly," said Furman.
"We're dedicated to being the voice of the community," said TV6 News Director Regena Robinson. "Our viewers have valid concerns that range from the economy, job growth, natural resources. The live chat, while incorporating social media, was an opportunity to get our viewers' questions answered."
