SANDS TOWNSHIP -- Blueberry Ridge Pathway in Sands Township may be seeing some changes when it comes to who or what can use it.

The Michigan Department of Natural Resources Commission met with the public to discuss the future of the Blueberry Ridge Pathway.  The issue was whether or not horses should be allowed back on the path.

In 2005, the Citizens Advisory Committee decided horses should have a separate trail.

Most people at the meeting were not in favor of the horses returning.

"The horses were scooping out the sand, leaving deep divots. They were tearing the vegetation out by the roots," said Blueberry Path user, Barbara Kidder.

The meeting was called so people could voice their opinions on the issue.

The director of the commission will make a decision after considering the comments.
