ONTONAGON COUNTY -- A 25-year-old Bruce Crossing woman whose vehicle collided with a motorcycle pled no contest Tuesday in Ontonagon County District Court.

Aimee Maureen Moran was arrested in Haight Township and charged with a moving violation causing serious impairment of bodily function to a man and woman riding on a motorcycle.

"We're going to be able to accept the plea on that basis. We have a violation of a motor vehicle code.  The couple has substantial serious injuries that will form the factual basis of the plea," said the judge.

This is considered a misdemeanor which means Moran could serve 93 days in jail and pay a $500 fine. Moran may face civil action.

According to the police report, Moran said the sun was in her eyes and did not see the stop sign.

A sentencing hearing will be held in the next few weeks.
