MARQUETTE -- Marquette residents will get the chance to bid on works of art made by their own local celebrities during the eighth annual Celebrity Art Auction at the Upper Peninsula Children's Museum.

The auction is set to be held on Thursday, and it features works by Marquette business people and city officials.

One of the artists is Marquette City Manager Bill Vajda who created a piece based on filling large shoes and thinking big.

Organizers say it's a perfect way to find something unique and raise money for the children's museum.

"Some of it is art, some of it is more kind of entertaining art, some of it is holiday art," said Museum Director Nheena Ittner Weyer.  "It all kind of has that kind of art feel about it, but it's fun."

Browsing of the auction starts at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and the bidding starts at 7 p.m.  The event is free and open to the public.
