IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP -- The Ironwood Township Zoning Board of Appeals unanimously turned down an appeal to operate a gravel pit on North Star Road.

This is the fourth time Snow Country Contracting has been denied.   The proposed pit is in a quiet residential area on North Star Road and neighbors wanted no part of it.

But Snow Country plans to appeal the decision in court.

A statement was released by Snow Country Contacting and reads as follows;

"We really aren't surprised by the way they voted.  We're disappointed in the board. The law is clear that we can do this.  We would prefer to settle but apparently that isn't possible."
