More cans from Ontonagon

ONTONAGON -- As a part of the TV6 Canathon, the residents of Ontonagon have been donating non-perishable food items to their local radio station, Y-101.

Y-101 has received boxes and bags full of cans of food, and they're putting the items wherever they can find space.

The station has been around for over 20 years, and this year more than ever, they're looking to get even more donations.

“We've had some hard times here with the mill closing down and Maple Manor, and people are giving what they can, and I do appreciate every bit that comes in. We just need to help out the people who are less fortunate,” said Operations Manager Jackie Dobbins.

If you're interested in donating food, the station says you can register for a chance to win prizes.  They'll also have a grab bag full of CDs if you bring in your donations.

Donations are welcome anytime, but the TV6 Canathon effort wraps up December 1.
