Attempted abduction suspect arraigned in Munising

MUNISING -- A Canadian man was in Alger County Circuit Court. Mohamed El Fectali was arraigned there Monday.

El Fectali is accused of attempting to abduct a 12-year-old girl on November 9 while driving through the Munising area.

The attorney for El Fectali, in a hearing in District court last week, said his client, who is a Moroccan-born Canadian citizen, was simply asking for directions.

The police detective said El Fectali stated he spoke to the girl hoping it would result in a sexual encounter.

El Fectali is due in court December 5 for an Alger County Circuit Court hearing.
