CHOCOLAY TOWNSHIP -- One school in Chocolay Township is giving the gift of reading to students through their annual project.

Cherry Creek School kicked off the "Gift of Reading" book drive.  For the past 24 years, the Marquette-Alger Reading Council (MARC) has hosted the book donation for children and adults in the area.  They're asking residents to donate new books or funds to the project.

Donna Campbell, a librarian at Cherry Creek, says she likes the drive because it is a local effort.

"It's really great because it's keeping the books in Marquette and Alger county, so the people here and the children are getting the books," said Campbell.

Over the years, their efforts have collected over 30,000 books throughout the entire program.  They distribute the books during Christmas time.
