MARQUETTE -- The Muscular Dystrophy Association sent people to jail Wednesday, but it was for a good cause.

The organization held a charity event to raise money for children with muscular dystrophy.

Community leaders were held captive at Marquette's Comfort Inn and Suites.  In order to be freed, they needed to post a bail or raise $800.

That's enough money to send one child with muscular dystrophy to summer camp.

"We are constantly fundraising," said Bri Keddell of the MDA.  "This is one of our slower times of the year with the holidays coming, but we definitely appreciate all the help and support from the Marquette community."

Prisoners spent the day making calls to family and friends asking for donations.

The MDA is headquartered in Green Bay, and each year they come back to Marquette for this charity event.
