MICHIGAMME TOWNSHIP -- The Marquette County Sheriff's Department and Powell Township EMS responded to a call from the Kennecott Eagle Mine security building on Tuesday regarding a hunting accident.

According to authorities, a 15-year-old girl from Gwinn was hunting with her father when she accidentally shot herself in the foot.  Her father then drove her to the Eagle Mine site to get help.

The teen had shot a deer and was following the blood trail when her gun went off due to the safety not being engaged.  The round passed through her left foot.

Emergency medical personnel at the mine helped provide care until the ambulance arrived.

Names are not being released due to the victim's age.  Police are investigating the incident.
