MARQUETTE -- Marquette residents spent Monday evening with wine, hors d'oeuvres and art, all for a good cause.

The event was sponsored by Teaching Family Homes as a holiday fundraiser.  Those who purchased tickets got a chance to sample over a dozen wines and food from the Rubaiyat restaurant, which also provided the venue.

Works from local artists also added to the atmosphere.

The $40 ticket price helped Teaching Family Homes raise money for kids during the holidays.

"So many of these kids come from abused and neglected homes.  It's our way to make a little bit of an effort and give the kids something so that they can have an enjoyable holiday season," said Rich Rossway of Teaching Family Homes.

Teaching Family Homes has been the largest child welfare organization in the U.P. for over 30 years.
