MARQUETTE -- The second suspect in a high speed police chase has been identified and found in Marquette Monday evening and put in police custody. He was one of two men wanted by police.
The first suspect was apprehended shortly after the chase ended.
Marquette and Chocolay Township Police attempted to stop the vehicle which was wanted in connection to a recent breaking and entering in Wisconsin early last week.
The suspects led officers on a high speed chase, reaching speeds of over 100 miles an hour. It ended when their car began to have engine trouble. The vehicle eventually stopped in the area of US-41 and North Peterson Road.
The driver of the car was captured after being tased by officers.
We interviewed police before the suspect was apprehended, and they believed they were close.
"We tried to initiate a traffic stop along with Chocolay Township and our units on the vehicle," said Detective Sgt. Steve Snowaert of the Marquette Police Department. "And it took off on us. We believe he's in the Alger County area. We think kind of where we're at right now is where he ran from the vehicle, and we have officers searching the area right now."
Names of the suspects are not being released at this time.
