MARQUETTE -- Some of the women serving overseas in the armed forces will soon be receiving care packages.  The local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution will be shipping packages of food and other products to female troops overseas.

The chapter is dedicated to historic preservation, education, and patriotism, and it's made up of more than 170,00 women.

D.A.R. has provided many services to troops, especially since 9/11, but they all have the same goal.

"We want them to open up these packages and receive these gifts of not just physical things, but to open them and know they have not been forgotten, and that people that are back home really do care," said Cheryl Lewis-Strong, regent of local chapter.

The local D.A.R. chapter is sending packages to Iraq and Afghanistan.
