ONTONAGON -- Students from Ontonagon celebrated Veterans Day by cooking them breakfast burritos and serving them coffee.

Before the event began, students lined the halls and cheered as the veterans walked through the school.

These seventh graders are a part of the Ontonagon County Lions Quest which is an organization that teaches kids life skills and gives them the opportunity to do service projects.

"It's important for the students to see and meet people that have served our country," said Lions Quest Coordinator Kirsten Menigoz.  "I think it's very important for our community right now with what's happening in Ontonagon.  So many people are down and depressed and this is just a small opportunity to bring everybody together."

The students made posters and many of the tables were decorated with thank you cards for the veterans.  The school band got a chance to play a few patriotic songs and then the kids read letters and poems honoring the veterans' service.
