MUNISING -- Two more hospitals in the central Upper Peninsula have joined forced with Superior Health Partners.

Munising Memorial Hospital, along with Schoolcraft Memorial Hospital, recently announced their alliance with the Superior Health Partners network.  These additions bring the U.P.-wide network of hospitals to seven.

The partnership will provide access to specialists and information from other health care systems in the network.  Munising Memorial representatives say this means less cost and a better level of care for their patients.

"What they'll see over time is, basically, they're going to see costs are not rising, they might even see go down a little; they definitely will not rise over time," said Munising Memorial CEO Kevin Calhoun.  "They're going to see services even be slightly expanded in the future."

The Superior Health Partners also includes an alliance with Blue Cross Blue Shield, the largest third party payer of health insurance in the U.P.
