ESCANABA -- A committee met in the Delta County Probate Court to fill the county treasurer's position, and applications are now being accepted.

Sandra Buckland has held the job since she was elected in 1988.  Her successor will help manage investments for the county, generate reports, and will sit on the county election board.

Applicants cannot have any felony convictions in the last 20 years, and they have to be registered voters in Delta County.

"The applicants are to submit their resumes no later than 4 p.m. on November 30.  It's our goal, unless something untoward develops, to have that decision made the afternoon of December 15," said Delta County Probate Court Judge, Honorable Robert Goeble.

The next hearing to review resumes will be December 7 in the probate courtroom.
