MARQUETTE -- There was a slow start at the polls on Tuesday morning in Marquette.

Voting Precincts 6 and 7 at the Marquette YMCA saw a slow, but steady, flow of voters, as did Precincts 1 and 2 at the Baraga Gym.

According to the Marquette City Clerk, voter participation is higher than most off-year elections.  Over 400 absentee ballots were cast ahead of election day.

Officials attribute the higher-than-average absentee ballots to issues like the charter revision and proposals to the Marquette School Board on the ballot.

Polls are open through 8 p.m.  Check back for election results on your TV6 Late News and here on our results page.

We will be updating the results as they come in.
