All proceeds will go to the Strong Kids campaign

MARQUETTE -- Ladies had the chance to enjoy a girls' weekend out in Marquette this weekend.  As part of the YMCA Strong Kids campaign, more than 100 women attended the events at the Landmark Inn.

All proceeds made from the dozens of vendors will benefit the initiative.  YMCA does not turn away families who cannot afford to pay the full rate for its use, so the annual event covers some of those costs.

For $65 per person, ladies enjoyed some free pampering and deals on jewelry, make-up and candles.

"It's very important because there are significant numbers of people, especially with the economic times the way they are, they need help, and in order for the Y to be able to continue to offer that help, we also need help to be able to.  It's like that trickle down experience, everybody has to kick in a little bit," said YMCA volunteer Michele Butler.

The women will wrap up their weekend getaway with a Sunday brunch.
