MARQUETTE -- A Baraga Max prison inmate accused of trying to arrange the murder of a state lawmaker refused to appear in court Friday.

Larry Taylor was scheduled to appear in Marquette County Circuit Court for his arraignment, but he refused to cooperate.  He's also been charged with solicitation of felony kidnapping.

The case against Taylor started on Sept. 9 when the Department of Corrections intercepted a letter soliciting the kidnapping and killing of state representative Barb Byrum of Ingham County.

Taylor is serving time in a 2005 Lansing-area murder solicitation case involving another target.

"He's non-cooperative in appearing for the video arraignment; he's not coming out of his cell," said Judge Thomas Solka.

The judge rescheduled Taylor's arraignment for Nov. 9.
