IRON MOUNTAIN -- It's not only bicycles that are traveling on the new Lake Antoine bike path. Officials have received complaints about people driving on the path, part of which is on the shoulder of Lake Antoine Road.
By keeping two wheels on the bike path, they're able to eliminate some of the bumps. But officials say the bike path was not designed to handle that kind of traffic, and if it continues, the path may be ruined.
They're urging cars to stay off the path as much as possible.
“You know we understand the actual road there is in rough shape. You know it's got a lot of deterioration, but eventually, someday hopefully we'll get that fixed, and then that won't even be an issue at all anymore,” said Jim Harris, Superintendent of Operations for the Dickinson County Road Commission.
The Dickinson County Road Commission is considering putting up a sign warning vehicles to stay off the bike path.
