IRON COUNTY -- An investigation by the Iron County Sheriff's Department and the Michigan State Police involving a homicide has resulted in charges against 44-year-old David Levack of Kingsford.
The investigation began on September 27 when 81-year-old Joyce Johnson was discovered dead in her home in Iron County. She failed to show up as a witness in court. A Grand Rapids forensic pathologist determined that the cause of death was homicide, according to the Iron County Sheriff's Department.
Investigators had several persons of interest in this case, which ultimately lead to the arrest of Levack.
Levack is set to be arraigned on Tuesday afternoon in Crystal Falls. He is facing one count of homicide open murder, homicide felony murder, home invasion first degree, and witness intimidation while committing crime. The first two charges are a life sentence if convicted. Levack is also charged as a habitual offender.
