ST. IGNACE -- Four vehicles and a pedestrian worker were involved in a crash on the Mackinac Bridge on Thursday, around 1:50 p.m., according to the Michigan State Police.

Robert Drumm, an 81-year-old man from Cedarville, was travelling north on the bridge, when he hit two parked unattended vehicles and another vehicle that was travelling north.  Witnesses say that traffic was reduced to one lane, and that Drumm didn't merge over.

One of the parked vehicles that Drumm hit was propelled into a pedestrian worker, who was launched 15 feet before landing on the bridge deck.  The 47-year-old worker received non-life threatening injuries.  Drumm and his passenger were not injured in the crash.

Drumm was cited for careless driving.  Alcohol was not a factor in the crash, and seatbelts were worn by Drumm and his passenger.

Traffic heading north on the bridge was stopped for an hour, while traffic heading south was only stopped briefly for first responders and cleanup.
