SKANDIA TOWNSHIP -- A house was destroyed in Skandia Township on Thursday after a fire broke out early in the morning.

The west branch of the Skandia Fire Department received the call around 10:30 a.m.  It took them about half an hour to contain the house fire on Kunde Road.

Fire officials say the cause of the fire remains under investigation, but may have started in the bedroom.

No people were injured, however, two dogs are believed to have died in the blaze.

Authorities say the Marquette based Pigs-N-Heat fire relief organization will help the home owner find a place to live for the next few days.

The Chocolay Township Fire Department assisted in fighting the fire.
