ISHPEMING -- Bell Hospital in Ishpeming is facing big changes. According to sources, the hospital's CEO, Rick Ament, will be leaving the hospital.
He resigned from office to persue a new venture, according to Ruth Solinski, Vice President of Organizational Development at Bell Hospital. Ament plans to start a health care consulting firm.
Barbara Larson and Gerald Messana will serve as co-administrators in place of Ament for the time being.
Ament has been the CEO at Bell Hospital since March 2007 and oversaw construction of the new hospital in Ishpeming.
In 2009 Bell Hospital was ranked in the 98th percentile for overall patient care satisfaction. They also ranked in the 99th percentile in physician service. The survey was released by the largest hospital survey firm in the country.
In 2011, however, Bell Hospital discovered $7 million in losses after an internal audit was performed in 2010.
