HOUGHTON -- BHK Great Explorations celebrated their Lights on After School Rally Thursday at Houghton Elementary.
They were among 7,500 other schools across the nation that are joining together to promote after school and summer programs.
The program also wants to inspire kids to learn along with keeping them safe and healthy.
"It helps them feel like they have a place where they belong after school and they have opportunities to build those relationships with one another, and so we really feel like that opportunity is our biggest impact," said Program Director, Traci Clanaugh.
The after school and summer program began eight years ago in Houghton County, and they offer students tutoring and homework help.
