MARQUETTE -- Marquette County coworkers and friends of Connie Branam held a party in her honor.

Branam is retiring as county clerk, a position she's held since she was sworn in in 2003 with the retirement of Dave Roberts.

She has worked for the county since 1977 and says she's glad to be leaving when the county is doing so well.

"It's an awesome feeling; it's humbling, it's overwhelming, it's been a great career working for Marquette County I truly enjoyed it.  It's time for the next phase of my life," said Branam.

Next Friday is Branam's last day.  She says she plans to spend time with her grandkids, travel and just enjoy life once she's retired.
