NEGAUNEE TWP -- A strong weather system has brought high winds to the Upper Peninsula.  The winds have been out of the northwest, blowing across Lake Superior.

The highest reported wind gusts were in the eastern U.P.  Winds gusted to 51 mph in Munising, and the highest, 64 mph in Grand Marais.  Meteorologists are saying that these winds aren't as bad as those from late September.

"We didn't have as much damage as the previous storm did, but most of the strongest winds were confined to the east, and we just may not have heard from them yet, so more reports will come in as we go along," said National Weather Service Meteorologist, Megan Babich.

Storm damage in the form of downed trees occurred in Ontonagon county and the Keweenaw.  Some of the downed trees fell onto power lines, causing outages.
