Beware changes to Medicare enrollment

MARQUETTE -- Medicare recipients may want to review their policies soon as the open enrollment period has changed recently.

The enrollment period was previously from November 15 to December 31.  However, it's been moved up and now starts on October 15 and ends on December 7.

The change was made so insurance companies could more easily make changes to plans at the beginning of the year.

Those on Medicare are urged to look at their plans during the open enrollment period every year.

"It's very good to review your plan each year because these plans can change their costs and they can change what they cover each year," said Social Worker Vicki Bullock.  "So you need to take a look at what the changes are."

If you would like more information on what plan is right for you and how to make changes you can contact the Marquette Senior Center at (906) 228-0456.
