MARQUETTE -- Red, orange, and yellow are colors most people would associate with fall, but how about pink?
With October being Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the color pink has come to represent a growing number of women.
One out of eight women are diagnosed with the disease every year.
Breast cancer specialists and survivors alike stress the importance of preventive treatments like mammograms.
"There's a lot of support out there that you don't realize not having been through it. People in the medical profession who are very, very supportive and who really do care about you," said survivor, Sheryl Nardi.
"Breast cancer awareness helps women to go out and get that mammogram," said MGH Breast Cancer Coordinator Shirley Jackson. "You hear it, you know you have to do it, so it becomes a very important part of your preventative healthcare."
In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Marquette General Hospital is offering mammograms at a reduced price of $50.
