MARQUETTE -- Hundreds of people dined on hors d'oeuvers and sipped on wine at the 2nd Annual Marquette Food and Wine Fest.
The event was held to promote eating in Marquette at restaurants that are only found in Marquette. It was sponsored by the Marquette Eastside Originals, a group of 21 restaurants in downtown Marquette working together to support themselves and a good cause.
"It's atypical because people think of us as competitors and we are, obviously, at some level. But we also know that what we really want is for people in the community to support the community and to support the people who are really trying to keep the money in town," said Tracy Wascom, Eastside Originals President.
"We're checking out the wine fest. It's our first time ever coming down. It's a nice day, it brings us out," said festival participant, Tina Young.
Funds raised will support three different organizations: the Marquette Salvation Army food bank, the Room at the Inn organization, and the Marquette Area Skate Park.
