DELTA COUNTY -- The Delta County Search and Rescue Team is hosting its first fundraiser on Saturday, and they're hoping to raise money to reach their $10,000 goal.

Their busiest time of the year is during the winter when they suit up for ice rescues.  The money raised helps purchase equipment and ice rescue suits.

The fundraiser is from 2 to 10 p.m. at the Rapid River Lions Club.  The public can win raffle prizes that range from a certificate for tax preparations, guns, and custom knives.

"Our budget is basically whatever we make off the street with raffles and fundraisers," said Tate Thompson of the Delta County SAR.  "Usually to equip one person with the proper equipment that we look for throughout the rescues in the time of year, it takes about $4,000 per person."

The big prize is a Mossberg 500 gun signed by Charlie Daniels during the U.P. State Fair.
