NEGAUNEE -- A group of employees in Ishpeming are out to make a special deliver this weekend...support for a coworker with cancer.

Dave Tarvainen has been a transitional mail carrier for the Ishpeming-Negaunee Post Office since 2004.  He was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor and stage four lung cancer.  Because he is not a full-time employee at the office, he is not eligible for medical benefits, so his coworkers have stepped in to support him.

On Friday and Saturday, they are donning special t-shirts in support of his recovery.  They're also holding a benefit hot dog and bratwurst dinner on Sunday.  It will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at Ely Township Hall.

Additional t-shirts are available for sale.

For more information on the event, call (906) 485-5072 or (906) 486-8898.
