ISHPEMING -- Folks in Ishpeming fought hunger Sunday, one step at a time at the annual Crop Walk.

The purpose of the Crop Walk, which stands for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty, was to raise money, both locally and globally, to support the hungry.

The walkers took a route down the Heritage Trail and back for a total of six miles.

"There are so many things that grieve our hearts. There are hurricanes and earthquakes and everything else that we feel powerless to do anything for, but hunger, there's something that we can do to make a difference," said Pastor Katerine Finegan.  The community makes more of a difference when we respond together.

Last year, there were 126 walkers and they raised $8,500.

Twenty-five percent went to the West Michigan Food Bank which needs people's support to feed the hungry of Ishpeming, Republic, Marquette, and Negaunee.
