Firefighters say it was not routine because of the explosive nature of coal dust

MARQUETTE -- The Marquette City Fire Department responded to a fire at the We Energies power plant on Lakeshore Boulevard around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday.

A fire broke out in the coal hopper on the eighth floor.

There were no reports of injuries or damage to the power plant, but firefighters say it was not routine because of the explosive nature of coal dust.
