MARQUETTE -- Authors of a new children's book exploring the unique history of the Upper Peninsula are looking for funds to get it published.

Haylee's Treasure tells the story of a girl who goes to visit her grandmother in Munising, where she learns about the culture of the area.

Natural features like Pictured Rocks as well as local fine art are central motifs of the work, but before it can get into the hands of children, they need to raise $5,000 through the Kickstarter campaign.

"With this book, the Kickstarter campaign works where people, they give a little bit of money and then they get something in return, and the more they give, the more they get in return," said contributing artist Beth Millner.  "And so some of the bigger kickbacks are pieces of my jewelry and some of the smaller ones, you can get a book."

To donate to the campaign, head to the Kickstarter website.
