IRONWOOD TOWNSHIP -- A 61-year-old man has been transported to Aspiras Grandview Hospital after falling at Conglomerate Falls near Black River Harbor on Wednesday.

The man, identified as Nels Swenson of Oregon, Wisconsin, was taking pictures when he lost his footing and fell on the rocks below the falls, according to the Gogebic County Sheriff's Department.

Swenson fell to the ground, striking his head and going unconscious for a short time.  He sustained a severe head injury and had to be carried a mile to an awaiting ambulance.

Swenson was taken to Aspiras Grandview Hospital in Ironwood for treatment.
