The weather's getting cooler, and the J.W. Wells State Park crew is hosting its Harvest Festival, which continues through Saturday night
ESCANABA -- All 153 campsites are booked this weekend for Spooktacular at the J.W. Wells State Park. There'll be a haunted trail and later pumpkin decorating contests for the kids, just to name a few things.
Spooktacular gets more traffic than even Labor Day or the Fourth of July holiday weekends.
It's a way to celebrate fall outdoors before people pack up and winterize their camper.
"A lot of the people with kids stop coming at that time; they winterize their campers for the season," says lead ranger David Adamini. "We get a lot of people without children who like to travel in the off season. They're people who like the privacy that the park offers at that time."
Without Spooktacular, the park would only have around 45 campers this time of year.
