WASHINGTON, DC -- A special honor for four of those 80 U.P. veterans who are on the Honor Flight to the nation's capital.
The four veterans took part in the wreath laying ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.
The Upper Peninsula Honor Flight repays veterans for their sacrifices for our country. They also stopped at the World War II memorial among others in Washington D.C.
The group returns Thursday night. Organizers are asking people to come to the airport to give a heroes welcome to the veterans when they return.
They're scheduled to arrive at 9:30 p.m. EST.

Update 4:40 p.m.
Four U.P. veterans were selected to participate in the laying of the wreath ceremony at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier in Arlington National Cemetery.
Two other Honor Flights were on location, but the U.P. veterans were chosen to partake in the ceremony.
Update 2:55 p.m.
Veterans visited the WWII, Vietnam and Korean memorials.
They were greeted and thanked by tourists, who also requested to be photographed with the veterans.
Update 10:00 a.m.
Veterans landed in Baltimore, Maryland safely. They are now off to Washington D.C. memorials.
They were greeted with a heroes welcome at the airport. Many were tearful and say they've never felt so appreciated. Some say they felt like celebrities.

There are veterans from throughout the U.P. that are taking the flight of their lives Thursday with Honor Flight.
The purpose of Honor Flight Michigan was to fly Michigan's deserving WWII veterans to Washington, DC to visit the memorial dedicated to honor their service and their sacrifices for our country.
With great anticipation, veterans gathered to fly to DC Thursday morning. TV6's Nikki Davidson is with the veterans on this journey and will be updating throughout the day's trip.
6:21 a.m...First they arrive at the airport led by the Patriot Guard Riders, city police and firemen with their sirens.
Now everyone is checked in and onboard the plane, ready to take off.
