SPREAD EAGLE -- A local non-profit is giving you the opportunity to win some money and help out the troops at the same time.

On September 17, a Texas hold'em tournament will be held at the Knights of Columbus in Kingsford to benefit the Lance Corporal Eric Palmisano Foundation.  The foundation is collecting money to send more than 400 care packages to the troops overseas in time for Christmas.

As the foundation grows, organizers say there is no end in sight for the project.

"We started this in May of 2006, one month after our son was killed in Iraq, and it is over five years now, and it will continue until all of the troops are home safe," said Bobbie Samme of the Eric Palmisano Foundation.

The event kicks off Saturday, September 17 at 6 p.m Central.  Tickets can be purchased at Shiny Side UP, the State Bank of Florence or the Crystal Lake Community Center.
