UPPER PENINSULA -- A strong cold front will bring a significant change to our weather early next week.
For Sunday and Monday, partly to mostly sunny skies will continue with highs in the lower 80s. We could see a little more humidity ahead of the front on Monday.
The cold front is expected to pass Monday evening. Ahead of the front, rainshowers and thunderstorms are likely. Forecast models are keeping most of the rainfall to the north of the Upper Peninsula, so it's possible for this front to move by us without dropping much rain.
But any storms that do develop and pass over the U.P. will have the risk for producing severe weather like damaging winds and large hail. After it passes, our high temperatures for Tuesday will stay in the 60s.
And then on Wednesday, the cold air mass continues to spread over our region, cooling things down even more.
We could still see lingering showers and clouds, but the main focus for Wednesday and Thursday are the below normal temperatures: highs will stay in the 50s and lows could drop to near 30 degrees.
